That's the very one! Anyone know where to get a nice quality clip of this? There is a teeny clip of the action at the Nova website: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/bridge/tacoma3.html

Any chance there's something included in a Prelinger film?

Tambora is going to get at me again, I just know it, but yes, there's great footage in the Prelinger archives.. It's from the Stilman collection.. and it's called Stillman collection: tacoma fire department, in that collection of clips, you'll see the fateful Tacoma Narrows Bridge weebling and wobbling until it falls down..

The link to it is..

Hope that helps!

Hey, Spuzz, what's up?

I actually didn't know that the extensive Stillman fire collection included something with Tacoma Narrows in it as an Open Source Film. Fascinating. Now I know.

Okay Spuzz, since I've taken to wearing hats lately... mine is off to you. :) That's the footage I was hoping for.

And since you're so knowledgable on this archive... Any chance that you know of any films shot in X-ray of people doing stuff? There are a few clips in the Fairbanks Studios tour film (called "Chinese Proverb" or similar) that are amazing. Any more wrongheaded medical stuff like that?

How about the film where we see a lady unlad a can of DDT onto a tomato before she eats it?

Thanks, Spuzz!

There's a Raid Commercial of a woman spraying her tomatoes a little.. too.. closely in one of the commercials collections.. Oh! It's in Classic Television Commercials (Part IV).. which is at http://www.archive.org/movies/details-db.php?collection=prelinger&collectionid=05865d

Keep em coming!

How about "At the End of the Rainbow," the film that extolls the virtues of UV radiation and shows all kinds of sunburned people exposing themselves to more and more rays?
